FIFA 23 Technically, it’s launching globally today, but owners of the game’s Ultimate Edition, as well as those who have tried the EA Play trial, will now be able to play for a few days. The two combine to form a large number of players, and most of them have nothing good to say.
As of this writing, the game has nearly 1,500 reviews on Steam. The overall rating is currently at “Mostly Negative,” which doesn’t look good.
Looking at the reviews themselves, there are two main issues that keep popping up. The first has to do with the game’s anti-cheat software, which some players make errors when launching the game. You won’t be able to play FIFA 23 without anti-cheat running in the background.
EA responded quickly to these reports, lett ing players know it was collecting data to identify the real culprit, and at the same time offering some workarounds. First, players should try launching the Origin/EA App as an administrator, as well as the game itself.
Due to the anti-cheat nature, some anti-virus software may detect and disable it, causing the error. According to some reports, disabling real-time protection (though it may have a slightly different name) fixes the problem. You should also consider reinstalling the anti-cheat program itself to rule out any possible corruption in the files.
If you’ve tried all of these and nothing works, EA would like you to provide more details in this dedicated support thread.
Another problem encountered by FIFA 23 PC players is more insidious. The game would randomly crash with an “unrecoverable error” message. This may take longer to resolve, but EA has been collecting crash logs to investigate.
Right now, there’s not much you can do, but keep an eye on this support thread for updates.
