An era has come to an end, Electronic Arts football games will no longer bear the FIFA title. Gianni Infantino is now making big comments about the next FIFA series.
So that’s it. After around 30 years, the cooperation between Electronic Arts and FIFA ends. FIFA 23 was the last part of the series that still bears the name – in future the EA soccer games will be called EA Sports FC. The main reason was probably that FIFA wanted insane amounts for the license and EA left with a quiet “you’re crazy”.
It is certainly not to be expected that the FIFA brand will then lie fallow. On the contrary, FIFA President Gianni Infantino, who was re-elected due to a lack of competition in his position, is already rattling on about upcoming FIFA games in his speech on the occasion of the re-election.
“The new FIFA game – FIFA 25, 26, 27 and so on – will always be the best e-game for any girl or boy,” Infantino reportedly said, adding: “We will have news about it very soon.”
Apparently, FIFA is launching a competitive game for the EA series. It remains to be seen who will develop the new FIFA games and what will ultimately come of it. A number of developers have tried their hand at football games and quite a few have failed miserably. Only Konami was able to keep up to some extent with PES and currently with eFootball 2023.
UFL is currently being eagerly awaited, which is expected to appear in the second half of the year and makes a very promising first impression.
