Ahead of next month’s release of Final Fantasy 7 Reborn, Square Enix and Respawn Entertainment have teamed up to create a “Apex Legends” and “Final Fantasy 7 Reborn” crossover event.

From January 9th to 30th, you’ll be able to experience the new limited-time mode Takeover in Apex Legends, featuring Buster Sword R2R5 and Materia hop-ups, as well as a slew of new Rebirth-inspired cosmetic items, including new Legends and epic skins, stickers, emotes, and more.

“Apex Legends” summons “Final Fantasy 7 Reborn” to Outland for a linkage event.

For three weeks, the Takeover event will replace the unranked battle royale mode in Apex Legends. In this new mode, you can use the Buster Sword R2R5 to dash, block bullets, unleash powerful limit breaks, and more.

New effects are added to the game in the form of Materia Hop-Ups, which provide benefits like area-of-effect lightning and HP absorption, as well as Nessie, a soldier who fights alongside you.

New skins are also coming soon, including the moogle-inspired Wattson skin, as well as Wraith, Crypto, and more. These skins can be purchased with Apex Coins and are part of a collection of 36 limited-time rebirth-themed cosmetics.

You can collect them by purchasing event packs to get items from the knockout pool, including the Mythic Buster Sword R5, the first Mythic cosmetic that can be equipped by any Legendary character.

Learn more about the linkage event via the Apex Legends website.

“Final Fantasy” fans can look forward to the release of the PS5 version of “Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth” on February 29.
