With Final Fantasy VII Remake Already in stores, the Square Enix team in charge of its development is already looking at that uncertain future that predicts the closure of the game. Those responsible for the first installment are already developing the second and, apparently, everything follows the deadlines provided within the planning, development and launch schedule. At least that is what they have made clear in some recent statements on the current status of the second part.
Through the publication Ultimania, and thanks to a translation courtesy of @aitaikimochi on TwitterThe heads of the game's development wanted to clarify exactly what phase they are in with the second part. Have been Hamaguchi and Toriyama, co-directors, along with Endo, Combat Director, who have stressed that everything follows the established plan. As of March 19, Hamaguchi confesses that "We are at a stage where we have started to think about the concepts that have not been clarified yet
Here is Part 8 of the # FF7RUltimania interview with Toriyama (Co-Director), Hamaguchi (Co-Director), and Endo (Battle Director) where they talk about plans for the next installment's world.

Hopefully, having already started the development of this second part, they do have clarified many of those issues that seemed not to be fully fixed. Without going any further, Square Enix did not seem to have a completely firm decision on how many parts the entire FF7 Remake project will have. Although they are clear that there will be no drastic changes at the plot level compared to the original game.
Be that as it may, we will have to wait and wait for the team to release more details or venture to launch a trailer. Probably, FF7 Remake Part II won't hit stores until 2022, As minimum. It will do it on another platform and, surely, with a truly ambitious world for players.
Final Fantasy VII Remake Part II, does your open world confirm?
Something that classic players know well enough is that, in the original FFVII, Midgar's departure involved finally traveling around the world of Gaia to visit its towns, cities and different locations. Whether this proposal is going to move to the second part is a question that flies over the heads of many players, and that S-E has also wanted to address in its statements to Ultimania. According to Toriyama, "We were able to polish Midgar using the latest technology and, who knows, I think for the next installment, we could use a completely different technique to create the world of FFVII
Recreating and reforming that enormous world is a task that now they have to face and, above all, achieve with a differentiating touch. That, at least, is Hamaguchi's intention: "It may be difficult, but I would like to do something different in the next installment, something that differs from the first«. Building an open world to abandon Midgar's linearity would be key to that change. And everything points to it being so.
