With a very simple test you can find out who played Gothic and who didn’t. Say the word: Minecrawler. While many just shrug their shoulders and wonder if that has something to do with Minecraft, Gothic veterans now immediately have the nasty sound in their ears: “Fffrrrrrrrrzzz”, it hisses dozens of times from the deep darkness of the mine shafts.
Of course, the legendary minecrawlers are just as important in the upcoming Gothic remake as other well-known opponents, for example the raptor-like scavengers. And a new update from the developers gives us a first look at the newly designed crawlers.
Minecrawler im Gothic Remake
According to the developer entry, the beasts should not only look creepier than before, but also have a new trick up their sleeves. But more is not yet revealed. In the still active forum World of Gothic Incidentally, the new minecrawlers are almost always well received. For example, user Norrik writes:
It looks really great! At first I was slightly afraid that the angular might be lost too much, but that was very well preserved! It looks more threatening than the original, which I also think is good.
- In the future, even more such information bits will be published, but only gradually.
- The work on the remake should proceed satisfactorily; 35 developers are currently working on it in the Barcelona studio. There are also other external workers.
- We are still actively looking for new employees, from VFX artists to community managers to testers. There’s a full list of jobs here on the website of Alkimia.
The Gothic Remake does not have a release date yet. But it will certainly be a while before we walk into the new old camp. Or to the new new warehouse. The decision is of course up to you again. And if you just got full of nostalgia, take a look at our video for the huge Gothic report:
