The front camera of Samsung’s Galaxy range hasn’t had an upgrade since the Galaxy S10 – That came out in 2019. Back then, the camera had 10 megapixels and in the current model, the Galaxy S22, this is still the case. However, there could be an upgrade for the upcoming S23.
The rumors come from the Dutch website Galaxy Club, who does not further name their sources. Accordingly, the upgrade for the front camera should affect the non-Ultra models, i.e. the Galaxy S23 and S23+. Here the pixel number of the camera is to be increased from 10 to 12 megapixels.
However, the club does not talk about other features such as optical image stabilization, autofocus and more. It is also unclear whether the camera will be under the display, as is the case with the Galaxy Z Fold 3, or whether it will be above the display.

Ultra models do not need an upgrade
However, we do not expect an upgrade for the front camera in the Ultra models of the upcoming Galaxy generation. With the S22 Ultra, this already has a full 40 megapixels, which is already four times that of the basic model. At least in terms of the number of pixels, the front camera should be prepared for the coming years.
However, the high-resolution front camera of the S22 Ultra could not protect it from initial performance problems. Shortly before the release, several testers reported that the high-end smartphone had problems with the software:

We don’t expect the Galaxy S23 from Samsung before 2023. According to the Galaxy Club, we’re still seven to eight months away from release. Until then, we expect to hear a few more rumors and a lot is subject to change.

However, the Korean smartphone manufacturer was able to assert itself as the top dog in the European market in the first quarter of this year. However, only one manufacturer was able to increase its sales figures recently – and that was neither Samsung nor Apple:
