Season: A Letter to the Future comes out of its silence to reveal its gameplay more fully. An announcement that comes with two more pieces of good news: an exit window.
Highly acclaimed for its announcement at the Game Awards, independent game Season: A Letter to the Future fell into oblivion. The title was tainted by the studio’s internal concerns and instances of harassment, which prompted it to enter a long silence while awaiting its rehabilitation by an external audit. However, the PS5 and PS4 console exclusive released a new gameplay video during State of Play in June 2022.
Poetic gameplay for Season
Season had seduced a road trip backdrop for its poetry and melancholy, but details on its game mechanics were yet to be revealed. Scavengers Studio took advantage of last night’s celebrations to tell us more about the quest of Estelle, the game’s heroine. The young woman is the first resident of her village to venture outside to commemorate the changing of the seasons since in this universe a season is a period of history, an era. The current one is coming to an end.
She will cross different regions by bicycle to observe this life that will be mysteriously transformed. The gameplay therefore revolves around exploration, meeting local people and tools that allow you to take photos, record sounds or dialogue. So many mechanics that allow the player to grasp the different layers of this world and understand their culture and history. The DualSense and its haptic feedback allow you to feel the ground on your wheels and feel the resistance in the pedals thanks to the triggers. Season: A Letter to the Future will be available this fall for PC, PS5 and PS4.
