Sometimes it’s okay, sometimes it’s not. We don’t really know how the video game industry will end up doing. When the numbers are down, the industry is generally doing well, even if things look bleak, certainly enough to move forward. Apart from that, certain companies like Ubisoft are cr ashing, studios are closing, thousands of employees are being laid off… The post-Corona period is really chaotic. But in the midst of this mess there is good news, such as from FromSoftware, the studio behind Elden Ring, Dark souls
FromSoftware announces excellent news for its employees
We’re going to do a little shot of positivity, if you will, away from all the black and gray that too often dominates the news. FromSoftware, one of the most popular studios right now (for many years, in fact), has just made an announcement that’s great to hear. ALL employees were just entitled to a salary increase of almost 12% and the minimum salary for newcomers was increased from 260,000 to 300,000 yen (just over $1,800).
The studio congratulates its teams for the work done over the last few years and believes that this increase is deserved and consistent. “At FromSoftware, we strive to create games that convey emotion, create value and inspire joy. With this in mind, we strive for a stable income and a rewarding work environment in which our employees can develop. Increasing basic and starting salaries is one of the implementations of this policy.”
Elden Ring, a huge success for the studio
It has to be said that FromSoftware is on the rise and is currently one of the most lucrative studios. In 2022 he gave us Elden Ring, the pinnacle of his soul-like genre. An open-world experience that has been praised by critics but also by players. Exploding records and one GOTY title later, a major DLC, Shadows of the Erdtree, follows suit. Although the latter’s difficulty level has upset many players, this expansion remains of rare, if not exceptional, quality. There was also a lot of talk about Elden Ring here. The game is still widely played and regularly updated across all platforms. And that’s even though everyone is now thinking about what’s next since there will be no more DLC for Elden Ring.
