Bethesda just announced a new major update for Starfield this month, as well as highly anticipated new features requested by the community.
Since the Prime Video series launched in April, all eyes have been on Fallout, both current and future games. Bethesda is working behind the scenes to find solutions to release the next game before retirement, while also focusing its efforts on The Elder Scrolls 6. The publisher isn’t forgetting its latest game: Starfield. While Bethesda waits for the paid expansion planned for this fall, it’s all set to roll out a massive update this month that brings highly-requested changes and new features.
A true performance mode for Starfield
Starfield will receive a massive patch in May, available now via the Steam beta branch. Bethesda is listening to the community and will finally deliver certain features that have been requested since the game’s release last September. We might as well start with the characters that will delight tech-savvy gamers. This means that new graphics options are available for the Xbox Series, where the focus is on optics and lighting. Gamers can choose between 30, 40 or 60 fps or opt for an unlimited frame rate if they have a VRR screen. Bethesda also recommends a monitor that can support up to 120 Hz.
New features and confirmed land vehicles
That’s for the technical part, but Starfield’s May update will bring a whole host of requested new features. The readability of the maps is visibly improved and they are improved to show more information and prevent you from getting too lost. Tabs are also added to containers to simplify inventory management. It is time. However, THE biggest novelty will not be available with the next Starfield patch. You asked for it, Bethesda will do it: a first land vehicle is in preparation. However, we don’t know if it will be available with the Shattered DLC or earlier, but it should clearly allow you to move faster on your expeditions.
Even more customization options in Starfield
In addition, to respond to criticism from some members of the community, the RPG will add new options to personalize the experience and in particular its difficulty level. Up in extreme mode or down, you can customize every aspect as you like. Specific example: the possibility of making ground combat more difficult compared to combat in space. Several points can then be adjusted to suit your playing style, making your games easier or not thanks to bonuses and penalties. This ranges from experience points, damage, economy to the weight of items or healing.
As far as customization goes, players are catered for. As with Outposts, the decoration menu will also be available for ships. Blank modules are also offered that you can fill out yourself according to your taste and wishes. For those playing New Game+, your character’s appearance and characteristics can be changed as desired before a new adventure begins. Bethesda is using the presentation of this major Starfield update to reconfirm that the modding tools are in the hands of a lucky few and will soon be available via a subsequent update.
