Elden Ring is ultimately too easy. Players are making their voices heard again because certain mechanics are too strong to begin with. Just as some equipment would be too cheatable. Obviously, we’ll never get there.
Yes, Elden Ring is once again in the news and once again people are talking about the difficulty of its DLC Shadows of the Erdtree. It’s almost a soap opera. Remember that the game was initially removed from Steam after launch. Two reasons for this. Framerate issues, which have since been fixed by FromSoftware, and the difficulty level is too high for many players. A seemingly so big a challenge that FromSoftware had to rework it just to calm the enthusiasm. But now it seems that the DLC is actually too easy, since two mechanics were present from the start. But for that, we still had to progress in the DLC…
Elden Ring still doesn’t satisfy some players who find it too easy
However, the first mechanic that players pointed out today has recently been reworked to smooth it out. These are the famous Blessings. These are two new and DLC-exclusive bonuses that can only be activated and used in the Shadow Realm. Two bonuses, an attack and a defense bonus, that allow us to face dangers. To benefit from them, simply collect certain objects scattered throughout the world. Some are easy to find along the way, while others require exploration. Originally, FromSoftware placed enough of these items on the main path to allow players to get by, while explorers could get better bonuses by searching for these consumables throughout the world and at secondary points of interest.
However, this obviously wasn’t enough for many players who found it too difficult or just didn’t want to explore the new region. Conversely, if we accumulated too many blessings, we became a bit too powerful, and we didn’t like that either. So FromSoftware has tried to lower the difficulty to the first few levels of blessings and smooth out the power increase to maintain the challenge at the end of the game. Many on social media are complaining about this about-face, saying the blessings are too powerful to begin with. FromSoftware needs to start banging its head against the walls.
Recently, another patch was released to rebalance the game for the umpteenth time.
“Cheated” equipment was singled out
Second point to criticize, and yet here too available from the start (and not even rebalanced with the latest updates), a certain type of weapon poses a problem. These are shield blades, half aggressive, half defensive weapons. They allow you not only to take a lot of damage or even perform some crowd control, but also to do a lot of damage. As the video of a player below shows.
“Broken” weapons that “break the game” say some, Elden Ring is too easy for others. It remains to be seen whether or not FromSoftware will address the issue soon. For example, although the Immitative Tear is considered to be too powerful an item, it is still there and can help players a lot. Because the subtlety is there, even if many players seem to forget it.
Elden Ring offers freedom of approach by offering a whole arsenal of items and spells so that as many people as possible can benefit from them. Players are free to make their task more difficult or not.
