Firesprite is one of the studios that Sony has meanwhile incorporated as a first-party developer. Now the first information has been made public about what the PlayStation developer is now working on.
Former WipEout makers returned under the name Firesprite and developed Playroom VR for Sony, among other things. Most recently, the developer was also responsible for The Persistence for PSVR on PS4; the horror title was released in 2018.
Meanwhile, Firesprite was officially acquired by Sony last fall and is now a first-party developer of the PlayStation Group. What the studio from Great Britain has been working on since then is still unknown – but now there are solid indications in this regard.
Accordingly, Firesprite remains true to the horror genre. This emerges from a job advertisement from the Liverpool-based studio. Firesprite is looking for a narrative director to work on the new PlayStation title. According to the description, this is an “AAA narrative driven horror game”.
The action-based horror title of the highest quality is also said to be technically based on Unreal Engine 5, but further information is still scarce. The employee we are looking for will focus on the storytelling of the game and will help to establish the game universe of the new project. This in turn allows conclusions that it could probably be a new IP and not just a simple sequel to The Persistence.
