lord of the rings For the next few months, fans were either filled with anticipation or despair. It just depends on which end of Mount Bilbo you stand on.
Embracer Group is working on another game set in Tolkien’s universe, according to its latest financial figures.
The games are developed by external partners and will be released in the 2023/24 financial year.
We already know four: Daedalic’s oft-delayed Lord of the Rings: Gollum, Freerange Games’ survival-making game Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria, EA’s mobile game The Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth mobile, and one from Weta Workshop.
Embracer did not provide any information about the fifth game, nor did it provide any information about the Weta game.
In August 2022, the company acquired Middle-earth Enterprises, which includes a substantial intellectual property catalog and global portfolio of films, video games, board games, merchandising, theme parks and stage productions related to the literary Lord of the Rings trilogy. Rights and Hobbits.
The deal also includes matching rights to the Tolkien estate and other Middle-earth-related literature licensed by HarperCollins.
That means we can expect more games, more TV shows, more movies, and everything in between. Do we need or want any more Lord of the Rings spinoffs, expansion packs, or distant relatives? That remains to be seen. As long as those in power stay true to the source material and deviate only from what actual knowledge presents, it’s fine. And, hopefully, the market doesn’t get so oversaturated that we end up feeling like Ringwraiths washed up by the Brunning River.
