Johnson’s words about his Star Wars are clear:
After five years, I’m even prouder of it. When it was my turn, I really gave it my all. I think it’s impossible for any of us to approach Star Wars without seeing it as a myth we grew up with. And like a myth, this story grew within us and influenced us. The ultimate goal wasn’t to remove everything, the goal was to go back to basics, to the basic power of the myth. And at the end of the day, I hope the film is an affirmation of the power of the SW myth in our lives.

He also returned to the emblematic character of Luke Skywalker, stating that it’s not his job to deconstruct the myth of the Jedi Master, as we’ve read many times in fan comments:
To me, the final frames of the film don’t deconstruct the mythos of Luke Skywalker, they construct it.
Even in 2022, this Star Wars film has many supporters and critics and it is very difficult to have a calm discussion about it with fans of the license.
