He brought this up in a Youtube Live Q&A on the Street Fighter 5 music theme, in response to a specific question about how they would approach Karen’s theme, and then linked it to what they had heard about the fate of the dragon.
“I do have other sources, not only [from] Capcom, but my friends in the US, they are very close to the Lee family. They have basically said that, for comic effect, any resemblance to Mr. Bruce Lee is now omitted. It has to be honorable. So we never see the dragon again. once. “
If true, it’s obviously sad news for fans of the character. For those who didn’t get a chance to mix with the Fire Fist Fighter, he was an interesting addition to 1993’s Super Street Fighter II, which was later revived in the series’ revival in the Super Edition of Street Fighter 4.
As a clear homage to Bruce Lee, the character is usually not for laughter, but rather remains serious and combat-focused in his numerous appearances. He’s not the only fighting game character to take inspiration directly from the notorious martial artist, as Tekken’s Marshal Law is also known for its outrageous (and frankly more comedic) portrayals.
Still, there has been no official statement as to whether Daniel’s claims are legitimate. We reached out to Capcom to try to verify these claims, to which a Capcom spokesperson responded: “We do not comment on rumours and/or speculation.” So all we can do is cross our fingers and search for future versions of this popular character for signs of life.
