The colorful shooter Foamstars will be released next week – also as part of the free games on PlayStation Plus Essential. Season 1 will then begin and in this season you will receive additional game content from the creators.
Square Enix was also at Sony’s State of Play yesterday and dedicated the stream to the upcoming online action game Foamstars. As is known, this will be part of the free games on PlayStation Plus Essential in February next week – directly from the launch on February 6, 2024 for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
Right at the start, Square Enix is presenting a first season; Many more such seasons will follow in the future with fresh content. The first season is called “Starry Pop” and runs from February 6th to March 8th, 2024. This season you can expect a lot of new game content beyond the actual main game, which Square Enix is now stating as follows:
- Ranked Party: Two time-limited seasonal events are available to players: Ranked Party Lonestar (single player) or Ranked Party Tribe-Vibe (multiplayer). There are seven ranks to master: Bronze Star, Silver Star, Gold Star, Platinum Star, Diamond Star, Superstar and Party Legend. Anyone who collects enough ranking points can take part in the ranking tests.
- Extreme Party: Here the Foamstars compete against each other in two very special game modes: In the “All Mel T” party everyone plays as Mel T, while in the “Invisible” party all participants are invisible. The first team to give their opponents ten chills wins.
- Happy FriYAY Party: At this weekend party there are only winners – and the opportunity to meet Foamstar athlete Tim Tolle, the star of next season.
The 4-vs-4 foam party shooter will receive additional characters, maps and game modes in the future. Square Enix’s plans already extend until the end of 2024. The timetable for seasons 2 to 6 has already been set; You can see this in the roadmap graphic above.
A season in Foamstars should last around five weeks. There is a season pass in which you can unlock content at different levels – as you are used to from other titles. All gamers have immediate access to the new modes. Also like other titles, there is both a free and a paid season pass; If you want to treat yourself to this, you have to shell out 5.99 dollars for additional items and more.
