Focus has added another experienced studio to its group.
Focus family interaction Announced on Friday that it has acquired French retro experts Dortwood, The developer and publisher, has developed a number of well-acclaimed classic revival games, including “Angry Street 4”, the upcoming Windjammers 2 and so on.The transaction also includes Arcade team, Dotemu’s publication label.
The transaction is valued at 38.5 million dollars (45.4 million US dollars), giving Focus a 77.5% equity and voting rights in Dotemu. After Dotemu reaches certain revenue targets, Focus will pay an additional 15 million dollars (17.7 million U.S. dollars) and make a second profit in the next two years.
Cyrille Imbert, still CEO of Dotemu, has joined Focus’s executive committee. Imbert will also retain a 22.5% stake in Dotemu. Dotemu’s team will remain independent within the group.
“The arrival of Dotemu marks a critical step in the group’s accelerated growth and diversification of expertise. By enriching our editorial line, we are opening up new sources of revenue and new market shares to conquer the fast-growing industry,” Chief Executive Focus Executive Officer Christophe Nobileau said.
“While continuing its activities, this new collaboration will allow Dotemu to benefit from the undisputed expertise of the Focus Home Interactive team in the production of AA games, which will lead to the first generation of 3D consoles (games in the early 2000s) ,” added Cyrille Imbert, CEO of Dotemu.
The recent focus has been on the consumption boom. The publisher pays special attention to small and medium-sized teams with a good track record and brilliant history. It recently acquired Streum On Studio and Deck13.
