Gaming News Following The Game Awards, fans of this PlayStation exclusive are unfairly crying
Nominated in no fewer than 7 categories at the Game Awards 2022, Horizon: Forbidden West still went away empty-handed, without the slightest reward. Fans do not hide their disappointment and cry on social networks.
Horizon, Grand Perdant of the Game Awards ?
Brilliant enough to be nominated seven times for the 2022 Game Awards, The very ambitious Horizon: Forbidden West has not yet received any awards and is perhaps one of the biggest losers of this edition. For many, although the title guerrilla undoubtedly played too strong a role, there is a terrible injustice here.
With strong competitors before it, and notably the devastating shadows of God of War: Ragnarok and Elden Ring, Horizon: Forbidden West failed to convince the jury of its legitimacy to walk away with a trophy from the Game Awards 2022. However, it was nominated in no fewer than 7 categories: Game of the Year, Best Director, Best Narrative, Best Art Direction, Best Audio Design, Best Interpretation and Best Game. Action-Adventure »
Fans are outraged and defend Horizon’s honor
Among the myriad of reactions to the lack of a prize for Horizon: Forbidden West on social media, a thread arose that was started (and since deleted) on Reddit a wave of outraged, angry and disillusioned comments from a variety of players. If each equals the value of the two main competitors (Elder Ring etc God of War: Ragnarok), who split the bet at the expense of the guerrilla title, a majority believe the latest Horizon outperformed them in certain very specific categories. Particular mention is made of the artistic direction and audio design, which, in their opinion, were grossly underestimated by the jury members.
I didn’t expect him to win the GOTY but he was absolutely snubbed. Also not for the sound design? art direction? The fact that he wasn’t even named for the soundtrack is criminal. – magic_is_might (comment posted on Reddit)
I think winning Elden Ring as Best Art Direction is crazy. It’s a very ugly game compared to GoW and Horizon. Elden Ring has taken elements from the first Dark Souls game. Same weapons, armor, spells, etc. Elden Ring did nothing but transition to an open world (very well) and executed the combat well. He certainly earned his Best Director award for that. But I can’t believe he also won art direction. – DigiQuip (comment posted on Reddit)
I can’t believe it didn’t win the Sound Design Award. That damn Ragnarok has a damn audio bug with its 3D audio rendering playing all the muffled sounds and stuff. Everyone who uses 3D audio on PS5 experiences it. Shit, how can this win a prize? ! The fucking machine sounds alone in Horizon: Forbidden West should have given them the prize. A Plague Tale was also stolen for its OST. It’s way better than Ragnarok’s, especially considering Ragnarok used music from the first game. IckyStickyKeys (comment posted on Reddit)
The soundtrack is superb and it’s the most beautiful world I’ve ever seen in a video game. – tarheel_204 (comment posted on Reddit)
Can’t wait for Horizon 3 to come out a day before GTA6 and lose all the accolades for it again lol. – Godtaku (comment posted on Reddit)
Aside from the fact that the Burning Shores DLC for Horizon: Forbidden West will only affect PS5 owners, there is a real wind of anger brewing in the gaming community right now.
