Looks like an old radio, but it’s a portable microwave: The Japanese manufacturer Makita has brought an unusual construction site product onto the market.
- Makita has introduced a battery-powered microwave with a power bank function.
- The device runs on two batteries and has a maximum output of 500 watts.
- Enough power to heat about eleven meals or 20 drinks.
We’ve tried a portable dishwasher designed for camping, but we haven’t stumbled across a portable microwave yet. These are now supplied by the Japanese manufacturer Makita. The brand, which is well-known for cordless tools, is based on the design of old construction site radios.
The microwave, which can be easily carried with the help of shoulder straps and a fold-out handle, has a capacity of eight liters. Two power levels with 350 or 500 watts are available. There is a USB port on the back that can charge smartphones and other gadgets.
Also on the back are the battery packs with 40 volts, which are in principle also compatible with other tools from the manufacturer. In this context, competitor Worx recently presented an e-bike that can also use such interchangeable batteries.
