Old weeks go by, new free games are coming: This time, Epic Games is giving away a 4X strategy game from Warhammer 40,000 that is popular with fans. In Warhammer 40K: Gladius – Relics of War you wage war on the planet Gladius Primus for resources and powerful relics.
As usual, we’ll give you an overview of what you need to know about the free promotion!
First of all, one change: The offer is valid from March 16 to 23, 2023 at 4:00 p.m. Epic surprisingly moved the free action forward an hour. If you bag the strategy game during this period, it’s yours forever. An Epic Games account is required.

Gladius: Relics of War – announcement trailer for the new Warhammer 40K strategy game
Gladius plants the popular tabletop brand on Civilization’s turn-based framework. You get a global strategy game with hexes where you strategically command your 40K armies. Unlike Civ, the focus is primarily on tactical warfare, as we find in the test:
The framework of the game in a nutshell:
Story on Gladius Prime: The action takes place on a planet where valuable relics were once found that reveal the world’s past. However, the find also unleashed a great evil, which plunged the previously peaceful world into war.
Four factions: Now four Warhammer factions fight for supremacy and resources. You can join the battle as Astra Militarum, Space Marines, Orcs or Necrons. The races allow different ways of playing.
Randomly generated game world: Each game you play on a new, randomly generated map. In addition to the hostile factions, dangerous flora and fauna also lurk there. Those who gain control of the eponymous relics can look forward to powerful bonuses.
Single player and multiplayer: You can play a story campaign against AI-controlled opponents and various multiplayer modes with and against real players. There’s online and LAN PvP, online, LAN and split-screen co-op, and crossplay.
If you love turn-based strategy, you might find it here:
Suitable for whom?
Warhammer 40K: Gladius – Relics of War is suitable for players who like to play in Civilization and are not put off by an extra dose of action. Because the war is really at the center of the title, diplomacy is left out. You only set up new outposts to keep your war machine running.
So if you like to (negotiate) and care for your own people, you are still in better hands with Civ. If you’ve had enough of that already, it might be worth taking a look at Humankind:

Can Humankind keep up with Civilization in the test?
In any case, Gladius is worth a look for Warhammer 40,000 fans. After all, the game comes with 81 percent approval on Steam very positive
Average for players. And Warhammer fans are usually known for their harsh but fair judgment.
