Clear, Enterprise, question

You have decided: The NCC-1701-D from Star Trek: The Next Generation is your favorite Enterprise by a wide margin. With strong ones 47 percent and overall 2,506 votes leaves all other Starfleet ships far behind.

These are your Enterprise favorites

The undisputed winner: NCC-1701-D

For many of you, the Enterprise-D under the command of Jean-Luc Picard is the heart of the Star Trek universe. Their elegant Galaxy Class shape, the unforgettable crew around Data, Riker and Worf and of course a little nostalgia seem to have made the difference.

A few of your voices from the comments:

  • Mario Donick: For me the 1701-D because that's the one I grew up with. Soft pastel tones, a sensible engine room, a utopian, cozy bridge. And from the outside she looks like she's smiling.
  • Arcane: My old favorite variant of the Enterprise was the Galaxy class (1701-D). For me, the ship simply wonderfully managed the balancing act between the original design and a modern look. Even if the colossus is too big and oversized for my taste.
  • kirk.james.t: The Enterprise D, for me as a TNG kid. But for me the most beautiful ship, and I'm going to get hit for that, is the Nebula class, especially the Phoenix with the round mission pod.

The other places

Far behind, but still respectable: The NCC-1701-E is a winner 21 percent and 1,114 votes second place. This stylish ship from the Sovereign class represents a more modern era of Starfleet, known from the somewhat more action-oriented films such as The first contact and Nemesis.

Third and fourth places are also characterized by nostalgia: The original NCC-1701-A (11 percent, 595 votes) and the NCC-1701 from the original series (6 percent, 324 votes) show that the beginnings of Star Trek under William Shatner's Captain Kirk also have a special place in the hearts of many of you.

That's why it's not surprising how the more modern interpretations of the Enterprise performed. The NX-01, the very first Warp 5 capable ship from the 2001 series Star Trek: Enterprise, has it 4 percent (230 votes) at least made it into the top 5. The newer variants, such as the NCC-1701-G from Star Trek: Picard or the Kelvin Timeline versions, ended up at the bottom of the list.

The Kelvin timeline ships, although visually impressive and action-packed like never before in JJ Abrams' films, could hardly collect any points. With 1 percent of the vote each, these blockbuster versions simply don't seem to fit with the fascination of Star Trek for many.
