Wake up, Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree expansion is coming out today (June 20) or early June 21, depending on where you live and what platform you’re on. To mark our arrival at this moment, FromSoft did what all developers do when they want to hype up the game – released a final trailer.
Yes, because that’s exactly what we need, as this DLC already holds the metascore title for both games released in 2024 and DLC released of all time. On the plus side, if you forget or can’t book any time off, allowing you to dive straight in without having to worry about keeping a sleep schedule, you can watch it on your lunch break as you’re counting down the hours until you can get home to start.

You can watch the launch trailer below, which is just over three minutes long, meaning if you have an hour for lunch and a sandwich is in your mouth when it starts, you can probably watch it about 18 times in a row before starting over. That’s just a rough calculation, and it rather naively assumes you won’t encounter any YouTube ads, but you get the gist.
What do you see, you ask? We find some different creature shots than in previous trailers, like the giant fire bowl monster that recently visited Big Ben and everyone’s favorite blue worm monster, as well as many boss fights that look like you’ll chew your face off out of frustration and fear. There’s also some beautiful orchestral music in the background, with various voices waxing lyrical about The Tarnished, Erdtree, Spouse, and Redemption.
So, there you have it. If you’re wondering when the DLC will be released, Fromsoftware has shared a helpful release schedule chart showing exactly when it will be released on PC and consoles around the world. For many PC users, the answer is later today, at 11pm BST in the UK, while for PC in the US and Europe it’s 3pm PT, 6pm ET and 12am CEST.

On consoles, unless you’re on Pacific or Central Daylight Time, you’re looking at midnight local time — which is when the day begins, June 21. So, yes, if you don’t have today or tomorrow off scheduled and don’t want to ruin your sleep schedule by staying up late, you might want to watch this trailer. Also, if you’re looking for details on the big patch that’s coming before the DLC arrives, here’s an overview of the details.
