Formula 1 is starting the 2024 season and, like every year, fans have to adjust a little. We’ll show you what’s changing for the new season.
The engines will soon start again: Formula 1 will celebrate the start of the 2024 season in Bahrain on March 2nd. As with almost every new World Cup, a lot changes for fans when it comes to broadcasting. We have good and bad news for you.
Free TV channel RTL is returning to Formula 1
Many of you probably look back fondly on the days when Formula 1 was broadcast for free on television. Sky has put an end to this for the time being from the 2021 season by acquiring the entire broadcast rights. Since then we have only seen a few free race weekends. This year the situation is changing at least partially.
In December last year there was a surprising announcement that Sky and RTL had entered into a cooperation agreement. Accordingly, the free TV channel will be able to broadcast a total of seven races free of charge in the 2024 season. This partnership will probably also apply to next year. There will also be five qualifying sessions and sprint races, but then without the race on Sunday. Florian König, Kai Ebel and commentators Heiko Wasser and Christian Danner are there again. New to the team is the presenter and journalist Laura Papendick as well as expert Günther Steiner, who worked as team boss at the Haas Formula 1 racing team until January.
You can follow the races in the live stream on RTL+. You need a paid subscription for the service. You can get this from 6.99 dollars per month.

Price increase for WOW subscription
There is bad news for everyone with a WOW subscription. Sky’s live streaming service is increasing the prices of the sports package by 6 dollars per month from February 15th. This means that the cost of the subscription increases from 29.99 dollars per month to 35.99 dollars. With an annual subscription you get the package for 24.99 dollars per month. However, such a model makes little sense for all F1 fans, as the series takes a break for several months in the winter.
