If you are a regular visitor to this site, you know how I feel prophetic; I’ve been pretty outspoken so far. When I played the game in 2021, I noticed it was a special ad for the PS5. We’ve said that this might be one of the most misunderstood titles yet to come out in our 2022 Alternative Game Awards.
Yes, the game has been delayed and ridiculed for its silly trailers, but in reality, it’s fun, it’s beautiful, and it’s worth checking out.
You can try it out for yourself right now: as I write this, a demo of Square Enix’s upcoming action RPG has just landed on the PlayStation Network. You can download it now exclusively on PS5.
If you want to see what you can expect, check out the gameplay trailer below.
You might already be judging this game by some bits and pieces of marketing, but there’s a spark here: Whatever this game is, there’s something soulful about it.
I think it’s clear that some elements of the game have been purged during the game’s long development, but the results may attract a small but loyal following — a game that could very well be the PS5’s mainstay if Square Enix insists on landing it. The first hit games of the era. There’s no better chance to see it for yourself than to download the demo and try it out and see what it looks like.
Forspoken will release on PC and PS5 on January 24, 2023.
