States, organizations and companies around the world are supporting Ukraine with financial means to deal with the humanitarian crisis in the course of the Russian war of aggression. Epic Games also wants to do its part and has collected a hefty sum with Fortnite.
In cooperation with Microsoft, Epic Games wanted to collect funds for humanitarian aid in Ukraine via the long-running Fortnite from March 20th – and this undertaking was impressively successful.
The focus of the campaign was the donation of the net income that the company achieved with the Battle Royale hit in the period from March 20th to April 3rd. While the campaign period is still running, a fabulous mark was already broken before April: since the start, more than 100 million US dollars have been raised for humanitarian aid in Ukraine.
The money will go to four organizations that are currently helping the people affected in Ukraine. Specifically, these are UNICEF, Direct Relief, the United Nations World Food Program and UNHCR, which is dedicated to the numerous refugees.
Epic Games does not want to pay out the funds to the organizations after the campaign has been completed, but instead continuously initiates appropriate transfers to help quickly. Anyone who wants to continue to support the campaign can do so until April 3rd. According to Epic Games, the following rules apply:
“All real-money Fortnite transactions made between March 20, 2022 and April 3, 2022 will be distributed. This includes V-Bucks packs, Fortnite Crew subscription contributions, gifted Battle Passes and cosmetic item packs, that are available for real money, such as the Void Dweller Pack Proceeds from cards for V-Bucks and in-game cosmetic items purchased at retail locations will also be counted if the cards are redeemed in-game within the above timeframe Purchases made in Fortnite with V-Bucks will not count as these are not real money purchases.”
You can find more information about the campaign in the official FAQ on the Fortnite website.
