If you’re one of the survivors playing Fortnite on iOS, any V-Bucks you’ve bought over the years are now worthless and can no longer be used in the game.
This means that any quality currency purchased with real world dollars or pounds is absolutely useless. The meaningless numbers shown on your account will forever show your wasted paycheck. Unless it’s zero, you’re good buddy!
As for why this is happening, you can thank the 2021 Epic x Apple lawsuit. Both companies are at war over payment options on the iOS platform. While that’s a great result for the developers, Epic Games still had to pay Apple a hefty fine, and Fortnite hasn’t been available on the Apple store since. Since it’s not downloadable, Epic hasn’t updated it since the lawsuit.
That means Fortnite on iOS, for those who still have it installed, has essentially been abandoned for over a year. The servers are still running, but the game is left in the past, while all other platforms are receiving all new chapters, weapons, cosmetics, etc.
All of this leads to today, as Epic Games wants all versions of Fortnite protected with their updated online service (including parental controls after the company was sued for $520 million for privacy violations and deceptive interfaces that violated children’s online privacy). law), you can’t even spend your fake video game money on iOS anymore.
What a rollercoaster. While this is certainly an odd moment in the history of the popular battle royale, let’s raise a glass to anyone whose cash is languishing on an iOS device.
