if you are a big fan fortnite or fall guy (and all the cosmetics each game offers), I have some bad news for you. Or, if you happen to live in Mexico, here’s great news. Epic Games has announced that it will be changing the prices of various in-game currencies in certain regions: V Bucks for Fortnite and Show-Bucks for Fall Guys.
These price changes are “based on economic factors such as inflation and currency fluctuations,” according to an announcement on Epic Games’ website.
It always seems utterly silly to me considering these in-game currencies aren’t real money, but when it comes to economics and what goes on behind the scenes at Epic, what do I know? Regardless, the price adjustment will take effect in the UK, Canada, and Mexico from July 17.
In most cases, the price of various in-game currency packs or cosmetic packs will increase. However, if you’re playing Fortnite or Fall Guys in Mexico, the price will actually drop slightly.
1,000 V-Bucks are now priced at £6.99 / CAD 11.99 / MXN 159 respectively. For players in the UK and Canada, this number increased slightly, while for players in Mexico, it decreased. As for the most expensive V-Buck pack (contains 13,500), it is now priced at £69.99 / CAD 119.99 / MXN 1629 respectively. You can check out the full price changes for Fortnite V-Bucks and other packs on the Epic Games website.
These price changes in Fortnite will also affect other packs that will rotate in the in-game store in the future: Reflections of Darkness, Magma Master, Lava Legend, Summer of Legends, and Wishes, Set”, “Matching Mission Pack”. However, the subscription price for Fortnite Crew will remain the same.
As for Fall Guys, there will be a similar change in the price of Show-Bucks. The price of the in-game currency will rise in the UK and Canada, while it will fall in Mexico. Show-Bucks prices for other in-game content such as the Fame Pass will remain the same.
Seeing V-Bucks raise prices amid a cost-of-living crisis didn’t affect me as much as the fact that I found out Taco Bell raised taco prices, but even seeing this in a game is still sad and intangible Currency is not safe.
