The rumor mill suspected it, now it’s confirmed. The open-world racer Forza Horizon 5 gets a Barbie crossover to match the film’s July 20th release.
On July 20, the Barbie film will start in cinemas with Margot Robbie – whom we know well from Suicide Squad as Harley Quinn. Microsoft took this as an opportunity to give you suitable additional content in Forza Horizon 5, but also to throw other collaborations into the room.
In the film, Barbie drives a classic 1956 Chevrolet Corvette EV – in her signature pink, of course – while Ken drives a 2022 GMC Hummer EV pickup. The two cars also come into play and can now be downloaded completely free of charge from the Message Center.
But it doesn’t stop there, because from July 14th a film will also be published as part of a special live stream. In it, learn about the different careers in the games industry as those who work on the Forza franchise share their own career paths, motivations, and personal Barbie connections.
There is also a new line of Barbie dolls, consisting of ten very special dolls. The dolls will be outfitted with the latest Xbox Gear fashions, as well as accessories like an Xbox Series S Console, Wireless Controller and Adaptive Controller. Fans can win the dolls in an international competition.
The hardware is also getting a major Barbie update. Starting July 10th, a Barbie-themed Xbox Series S will be raffled off via the Xbox Twitter channel and Microsoft Rewards, and there will also be Xbox wireless controller faceplates based on Barbie and Ken’s different outfits on screen are.
