As predicted by Turn10, the new Forza Motorsport has been unveiled on Xbox Series X|S and PC with exciting gameplay and new information.
The Xbox Direct was organized by Microsoft to take stock of the next Xbox Series X|S exclusives like Redfall or the new game from Tango Gameworks (The Evil Within). The automobile simulation Forza Motorsport took up a special part of the presentation.
Forza Motorsport, a showcase for the Xbox Series X|S
After the first gameplay video released during E3 2022, Forza Motorsport just got a new issue. Indeed, the Xbox Direct conference made it possible to see unreleased excerpts from the game and learn more details about this pure new generation episode.
Turn10 qualifies this Forza Motorsport as that “most technically advanced racing game ever”, an episode developed only for Xbox Series X|S consoles and PC. To this end, the teams worked extensively on materials and shaders to optimize ray-tracing rendering, and painted the vehicles using a spectrophotometer. A barbaric-named machine used in car paint shops. The idea is therefore a better interplay of light and colour, brilliance and radiance. But a car gets dirty, it gets damaged, and the developers promise the damage and dirt will affect Forza Motorsport’s cars in “unique” ways.
Environments, which will number 20 – including 5 new destinations with Kyalami in South Africa – should also make a leap forward. Like other games of the genre, like Gran Turismo 7, the level ” unbelievable “ Details of the circuits are obtained thanks to photogrammetry.
Full of cars and the best physics ever
As mentioned earlier, the developers of Turn10 focused on various aspects that deserved further development, starting with the physics. And this to improve the simulation dimension that separates this series from Forza Horizon. Far more advanced physics than Forza Motorsport 5, Forza Motorsport 6, and Forza Motorsport 7 combined, according to the studio.
One of the big advances concerns the management of tires and grip points on the track. Parameters such as tire pressure, weather or asphalt temperature have a major impact on driving behavior. As well as the selected tire types and the wear system.
The sound has also been particularly cared for to offer more immersion with two audio formats: Windows Sonic and Dolby Atmos. Each changed part (exhaust, turbo…) should change the noise of the cars and each lap on the track will be the opportunity to hear the screeching of the tires and the sounds of the engine in a more subtle way.
Finally, Turn10 talked about content. When Forza Motorsport 2023 launches on Xbox Series X|S and PC, there will be over 500 cars, including over 100 new ones “Collect, race and customize with over 800 unique upgrades”.
