Free upgrade to 5G: These cheap mobile phone plans are getting even better

If you just want the most data volume at the best price, you can get the best deal with many of Lebara’s tariffs. One disadvantage was that you didn’t have access to the 5G network. That’s now changing with the free upgrade to Lebara’s new tariff portfolio.

According to a press release from Lebara, the mobile operator is “now enabling 5G in all tariffs – at no additional cost for existing and new customers. The changeover will take place automatically.” This means that all customers can really benefit if they use a 5G-capable device. The tariffs in the Network of o2 (Telefónica)

We compared the new tariff portfolio with tariffs from competitors and found that none of the new tariffs offer a bad price-performance ratio. On the contrary, the majority of the tariffs offer the largest data volume for the respective price points. This is what the portfolio of contract tariffs now looks like:

Lebara offers 10 GB for 4.99 dollars per month, while the competition usually offers 5 to 7 GB. Lebara offers 18 GB for 6.99 dollars per month. Other providers can only provide a maximum of 17 GB for that price.

For 9.99 dollars per month, you have 33 GB at Lebara. Freenet comes closest here, with 25 GB for the same price. For 50 GB, there is a retailer who undercuts Lebara’s monthly price by 1 euro. However, 19.99 dollars for 100 GB is again the best price that you can get from Lebara.

However, Lebara has advantages that other providers do not currently offer. Firstly, you can choose between a monthly plan and a 24-month plan. The additional charge is only 10 dollars for the activation fee. Secondly, depending on the plan, international minutes in 50 countries are always offered, in addition to EU roaming.

The maximum transfer speeds at Lebara are 50 Mbit/s. This is standard for cheap 5G tariffs in Network of o2 (Telefónica)Some providers only allow up to 25 Mbit/s. Even 25 Mbit/s would be enough to watch 4K videos live if reception is good.

Lebara’s prepaid tariffs are also being upgraded. Basically, the same conditions apply here as for the contract tariffs. Depending on the tariff, there are international minutes in addition to EU roaming and the all-net flat rate, and the maximum transmission speed in Telefónica’s 5G network is 50 Mbit/s.

Here you get a good deal across the board with Lebara. The 30 GB option in particular stands out from the competition, as the next best offer is 18.99 dollars for four weeks, while Lebara only charges 14.99 dollars. If you book the Prepaid 100 in the app, you even get 50 GB on top.
