Magic Knight Reias,Depend on Cardcaptor Sakura, clampa new animation is in the works.

Nowadays, many of you may only know Clamp from Cardcaptor Sakura, which is the group’s most famous manga to date, but they’ve collectively put out some pretty good work over the years. One of those series is Magic Knight Raias, a series that follows the story of three young girls, blending the magical girl and mecha genres and taking its protagonists into an alternate isekai style. The series was actually adapted into an anime all the way back in 1994, and to celebrate its 30th anniversary, plans for a new anime were announced earlier today.

The trailer for the series can be seen above, but don’t expect too much from it. There are some shots from the original anime in the trailer, and some artwork from the original manga, but it’s pretty much a “yeah, there’s another anime coming soon, I hope you’re looking forward to it!” situation. The end of the trailer does reveal an image of the characters from the new anime, showing the three main characters standing on a cliff overlooking a fantasy world, but I guess this is just a key art piece and not anything from the anime itself. Sadly, there’s no news on the cast or crew either.

If you’re interested in the series, you can watch it on Crunchyroll The streamer describes the series like this: “Hikaru Shidou, Umi Ryuuzaki, and Fuu Hououji are not from Cephiro. On a school field trip to Tokyo Tower, all three girls’ minds are drawn to a different world filled with magic and wonder. Until Princess Emeraude, the pillar of Cephiro, calls upon the Magic Knights to save her world – and it happens to be those three!”

There’s no word yet on when the series will be released, so you’ll have to keep an eye out.
