Frontier Developments develop a game of real-time strategy based on Warhammer Age of Sigmar. The creators of Elite Dangerous, Planet coaster and Jurassic World Evolution, among others, have announced in a note to shareholders that they have acquired the license of the Games Workshop saga. They will work on the video game to have it ready for both PC and consoles in fiscal year 2023, so its launch is scheduled between June 1, 2022 and May 31, 2023.

"We are delighted to announce this license with Games Workshop", explains in the note David Braben, CEO of Frontier Developments. "I personally think it is great news that two solidly established and top-notch UK creative companies are collaborating on a new project."

Warhammer, the board game with miniatures and great battles, has been divided into two main branches: the fantastic and the futuristic (Warhammer 40,000). In 2015, Warhammer Fantasy Battles was replaced by Warhammer Age of Sigmar, collecting elements from its predecessor: there four great alliances (Oder, Chaos, Death, Destruction) and 21 races divided into different types of units. There is material for a diverse RTS.

The Warhammer classic come back with The Old World

However, as you remember from PC Gamer, Games Workshop promised in November 2019 the return of the Warhammer classic under the name Warhammer: The Old World. Games that mix RTS and turn-based strategy Creative Assembly are based on this universe. When the study announced Total War: Warhammer II I explained that this delivery "represents the next step in our triloga".

This April 16, a trading and strategy card game based on Age of Sigmar: Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Champions, also available on PC. The PlayFusion title mixes physical cards with digital cards in a similar way as it does Magic The Gathering: Arena.
