Starting tomorrow, the survival series Frostpunk is getting a fresh spin-off, Beyond The Ice, which is set to conquer a new platform.
The Frostpunk series has certainly been able to inspire a larger and loyal community on PC and consoles. The original game sold over three million copies worldwide – and now you can enjoy the survival gameplay on the go. 11 bit Studios, together with NetEase (including Diablo Immortal), have now announced Frostpunk: Beyond The Ice for mobile platforms.
From tomorrow, October 29, 2024, the survival spin-off will be available for mobile devices in more than 170 regions and in seven languages. It is a specially adapted version of the survival title Frostpunk, in which a sudden ice age makes survival difficult. You have to try to save people and build a steam-powered city, but you also have to deal with a number of ethical dilemmas and make difficult decisions.
The mobile version aims to reconstruct the experiences from the original game in a platform-friendly way. You have to collect resources, build buildings and develop the city from the generator in the center. Outside the city there is all sorts of expedition content that has been expanded. Here you have to fight against animals, among other things, to secure items and get rewards.
Beyond The Ice also has some mobile-exclusive features such as social elements that focus on multiplayer mode. For example, there is an industry system where you specialize in a specific industry. The choices include engineering, agriculture, technology, healthcare and finance. Here you can then further develop special resources and skills and offer and purchase goods from the individual industries through trade with other users.
