While Ubisoft’s free-to-play FPS XDefiant awaits its first season next week, it’s packed with new features and player-requested changes.
With this, Ubisoft is preparing the ground for the launch of the first season of XDefiant in the best conditions. Therefore, the free FPS has received numerous improvements both to its gameplay and its stability. Here are the changes made.
XDefiant continues to improve in the preseason
Just over a month after its release, XDefiant continues its path in the highly competitive arena of multiplayer FPS. Ubisoft’s free-to-play game obviously had some success upon release. However, it needed a few small adjustments to shine more. This came in the form of major updates. The latest ones focus on gameplay, netcode, and the experience required to unlock weapon attachments. These elements were among the most criticized points by the community and the title is improving accordingly.
Therefore, XDefiant initially saw a reduction in the number of experience points required to level up its weapons (from 3500 to 3000 for main weapons and from 1500 to 1000 for secondary weapons). A new patch was applied to further lower this threshold. For the main weapon, you now only need to earn 1500 experience points to unlock the next accessory. This change is retroactive and players who have played a few games should therefore have weapons with a much higher level than before the update. To compensate for this, the Weapon Master level for unlocking shiny skins has been increased. All of this is explained in detail by Mark Rubin, the game’s executive producer, in his account X.com
XDefiant also brings a very welcome change in terms of netcode. Now the health loss is triggered more quickly when receiving shots. This should reduce the cases in which our character seems to die despite being safely behind a wall. Ubisoft’s free FPS will certainly continue to be updated over time. It remains to be seen whether it manages to stay in the race permanently. First verdict in this sense with its first season on the theme of Rainbow Six, scheduled for July 2nd.
