Tim Schafer, founder of Double Fine Productions and iconic video game creator, has confirmed that Full Throttle Remastered, Day of the Tentacle Remastered and Grim Fandango Remastered will come to Xbox One this year. Remasters for all three video games are currently owned by Schafer's company and are available on other platforms such as PS4, Ste am, and GOG, but they had still received a port to the Microsoft console
It was Ryan McCaffey of IGN who posted this scoop on his personal Twitter account. Schafer has pointed this out in a recent streaming for the 25th anniversary of Full Throttle But, having gone a bit unnoticed, McCaffey has decided to make it public on the social network: "I'm not sure if this is a last hour but Tim Schafer has told me during our recently concluded 25th anniversary streaming that the remasters of his three graphic adventures –Full Throttle, Day of the Tentacle and Grim Fandango– they will finally come to Xbox throughout this year ", can be read in the original tweet, which you can see inserted below these lines.
Not sure if this is breaking news, but @TimOfLegend told me during our just-concluded 25th anniversary livestream of Full Throttle that all 3 of Tim's adventure game remasters Full Throttle, Day of the Tentacle, and Grim Fandango are finally coming to @Xbox later this year !! pic.twitter.com/zyeroWLX9i– Ryan McCaffrey (@DMC_Ryan) May 12, 2020
Three remastered classics that will finally come to Xbox
As you can see, McCaffey makes no explicit reference to Xbox One, but directly mentions the official Xbox account on Twitter. What does this indicate? Although the safest thing is that the remasters of Full Throttle, Day of the Tentacle and Grim Fandango published this year in the current generation of Xbox, also may somehow go on sale with Xbox Series X compatibility and the new generation of Microsoft consoles.
It should be remembered that currently Double Fine is the property of Microsoft after the company acquired the Schafer production company. This purchase does not affect the development of Double Fine, in the sense that they may continue to be cross-platform games.
Full Throttle, who is now 25 years old, was remastered in an edition published in 2017. Its original release in 1995 was followed by Schafer's next great graphic adventure, Grim Fandango, which was published in 1998. Before these two works, in 1993, Maniac Mansion 2: Day of the Tentacle, a sequel that has ended up acquiring its own entity. These last two video games were remastered in 2015 and 2016 respectively for various platforms.
