Fyeo likes the free version, but the premium subscription offers little added value
With Fyeo you get a clear, stylish and free podcatcher with numerous functions. However, the very cheap premium subscription does not necessarily mean the most interesting content. So you should definitely inform yourself about the content before you switch from a free to a paid plan. The interesting and unconventional design of the playback screen is a nice feature that you have to get used to, but after a short time it looks very natural.
We liked that
- Free mode has a lot of features
- Missing podcasts can be added
- Clear design
We didn’t like that
- No left-handed representation
- Available for iOS and Android only
Fyeo is an abbreviation for “For Your Ears Only” and that is exactly what it wants to be, a pure audio library. There are no classic audio books with the Seven. One Entertainment Group. The service is thus both in competition with the traditional ones Musik Streaming Services
An overview of important information
- Over 1 million podcasts
- Free offline function
- Originals and a wide range of podcasts
Costs and packages
What is impressive about Fyeo are the features of the free plan. You can access over a million podcast content free of charge and even without registration via the iOS or Android app. For 4.99 dollars a month you also get access to the numerous originals from Fyeo. However, these are not completely hidden from you, even with a free tariff. You can call up the first episode of every production even without a premium subscription.

Supported devices and platforms
A major weakness of Fyeo is the small number of devices it supports. You can only use the service on iOS or Android devices without any problems. In order to be able to use Fyeo on the PC, you would probably have to use emulation software like Bluestacks which simulates an Android interface on your computer.

Fyeo is not included in the data flat rates from Vodafone and Telekom. So you can neither with Vodafone Pass still with StreamOn listen to Fyeo without data consumption.
Podcast selection
Fyeo’s podcast offer is very extensive. While the free version offers you a very wide range of well-known podcasts such as “Baywatch Berlin” and various Deutschlandfunk productions, you can even access exclusive productions with a premium subscription. One example of this is the current podcast “Sayonara Heimat” by Hauke Gerdes, who emigrated to Japan in the midst of the corona pandemic. A partnership with ARD also ensures that you have access to the podcasts of the public broadcasting offer.
Fyeo Originals and Exclusives
The Fyeo program is otherwise very innovative and varied. Radio play fans get their money’s worth with “Die Guten und die Galaxis”, a comedy space opera, in “Article X – The Basic Law in 11 Stories”, Fyeo tries to present serious topics such as the Basic Law in an exciting or humorous way.
User interface and handling
The Fyeo app is relatively clear and is reminiscent of the design in some places Spotify. In particular, the categories that are displayed under the search function, which are displayed in colored themed tiles, are reminiscent of the music streaming service. You get recommendations in the app at every corner, which can be overwhelming at the beginning. However, if you subscribe to your own favorites, you can relax and click on the icon at the bottom right to keep an eye on the interesting new releases.
At first glance, the menu looks unusual in that you can see which podcast you are currently playing. Unlike other services, the progress is not shown in a horizontal line at the bottom of the screen, but in a vertical line on the left edge of the screen. This is actually not that impractical, after all, most of them hold their cell phones in their right hand and can thus navigate through the podcast precisely with their thumbs. However, we could not find a function for left-handers that reflects this representation.
More functions
The most important function is probably the offline function. You can also view downloaded podcasts on your profile and delete them again. You can also choose to automatically delete a podcast after listening to it once. A sleep timer and the function to play a podcast faster round off the minimalist design.
You cannot play the podcasts slower. If you miss a podcast that is not exclusively distributed by another service, you can enter the URL to the podcast under the settings at Fyeo and send it to have access to it via Fyeo after a short time.
Advantages over other services
A definite advantage of Fyeo is the free mode. With Fyeo you get a solid and stylish podcatcher with a clear menu and without advertising at no cost or subscription. Established music services cannot offer that. The Exclusives and Originals also look interesting and currently offer more variety than Deezer and Amazon Music.
