As always, Galaxy Unpacked is an opportunity to learn more about upcoming Samsung products with an in-depth presentation. We can remember this from August 2022.
Samsung is therefore using the calm of the summer to announce its new products, including of course the new folding smartphones Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 4. The Korean manufacturer has also announced new connected watches and new headphones.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4, a very high quality smartphone
The design does not change compared to version 3 and the changes are mainly made internally, in particular with a more compact hinge for which Samsung guarantees a closing/opening cycle of at least 200,000. Also note that the edges of the screen are thinner, the outer screen has therefore been slightly enlarged, as has the external screen. The camera also has the right to change as it is hidden under the screen.
For the photo, we make a leap forward with a main wide-angle with a 50-megapixel sensor, an ultra-wide-angle with a 12-megapixel sensor, and a long-focal lens with a 10-megapixel sensor. The sensor in question offers a 3x optical zoom and thus a 30x space zoom. Which is pretty impressive.
On the interface and application side, the new features are on the UI overlay side, which offers a new Windows-style taskbar with more shortcuts. The manufacturer also offers faster switching between applications without having to go through the phone’s homepage.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 is available in 3 colors namely black, anthracite and ivory. A fourth color (burgundy) is present but exclusive to the Samsung website. The same goes for the 1TB version of the phone. Scheduled for August 25, you still have to pay 1799 dollars, the price of a good PC…
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4, the cheapest folding model
Of course, when it comes to smartphones, we still have to talk about the Galaxy Z Flip 4. This new iteration offers a more angular design and a thinner screen bezel. Samsung offers 4 colors namely Graphite, Blue, Rose Gold and Lavender. There is also a bespoke edition as for the Flip 3, this is a version of the smartphone with more customization and therefore more color choices to allow up to 75 possible combinations.
The external screen gives you quick access to features like WiFi, Bluetooth, airplane mode, etc., but also finally the ability to reply to messages. The second screen on the back measures 1.9 inches and has a resolution of 260 by 512 pixels.
Its shock resistance has been improved and so has its lightness. The hinge has also been reworked to make it a more durable folding smartphone like the Fold 4. Still expensive, but still a little less than its big brother, for which you have to pay 1109 dollars Availability on August 26th.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 5, new connected watch
Changing the subject and getting to the watches with the introduction of the Galaxy Watch 5. These are available in two models. The first model is the Watch5 with two dial sizes, 40mm and 44mm, and the second is the Watch5 Pro with a larger 45mm dial. The screen of the 40mm version features a 1.19-inch AMOLED panel with a resolution of 369×396 pixels. The 44mm version has a 1.36-inch screen with a resolution of 450 x 450 pixels.
The design of the Pro version is identical and Samsung particularly emphasizes its solidity. Crafted from titanium and fitted with a sapphire crystal, it’s designed to survive the worst. Perfect for the adventurous (and dizzy). It also has a large 590mAh battery that gives it an autonomy of 80 hours. 16 GB remain on the memory side to be able to store music there.
For hypochondriacs, you should know that the Watch5 will be able to measure your blood oxygen levels during sleep, but also detect your snoring (the denial is over). Finally we find the possibility to measure body composition, muscles and water in the body in real time. In short, something to monitor your body. Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro wireless headphones
We were finally able to discover the manufacturer’s new headphones. The design is slightly different and more aerodynamic (according to Samsung) and the weight is 15% lighter with the addition of 24-bit Hi-Fi sound support. Noise cancellation has been improved and can mute itself when the headphones detect someone is speaking directly to you. The life is wonderful, is not it? On the other hand, you still have to pay 229 dollars to benefit from it.
