The site Pixel update reports on the work being done “for fun” for the very first time by Tony Warriner, one of the co-founders of Revolution Software The Knights of Baphomet. With the help of upscaling software managed by artificial intelligence, the programmer tries to double the resolution of the original assets while improving the quality and sharpness of the game’s graphics.
And if we’re still far from a total remaster, the developer has already shared a first screenshot that gives an idea of the result. Both before and after screenshot versions are available in our gallery below.
Obviously, the rendering isn’t worth a full remake, but the improvements made with a resolution of 640×400 are still remarkable. Artificial intelligence has increased the number of colors on the screen, which helps reduce the dithering effect. Now it remains to be seen whether Tony Warriner will continue the experiment. The latter doesn’t make any promises, but rather invites players to imagine what a real remaster of the game would give.
What about Baphomet 6?
As for the real official future of the Knights of Baphomet franchise, Charles Cecil has been hinting for several years that a sixth episode is in Revolution Software’s plans. However, the game has yet to be announced.
More than two years ago, documents released by the European Commission (as part of an even more official funding program) showed in black and white that this mysterious sixth installment Broken Sword 6: Parzival’s Stone VR (Les Chevaliers de Baphomet 6: La Pierre de Perceval VR in French) and that it would be a virtual reality game. However, recent things suggest that the UK studio would no longer plan to make this Baphomet 6 a running title using this technology.
The bases of the plot of this sixth episode according to the documents put online by the European Commission are still available this address. At the time of this writing, it is not known when Knights of Baphomet 6 will be announced or on what platforms it is slated to be available.
