In December and thus during the busy Christmas season, five titles broke relevant sales brands in Germany. Included are Avatar and Spider-Man 2, among others.
game, the association of the German games industry, was able to award a number of coveted sales awards for December 2023. This award is given to games in Germany that break certain sales marks – and five of them did so in the Christmas business.
The jump’n’run Super Mario Bros. Wonder for the Switch from Nintendo turned out to be particularly successful, as the title cracked the 600,000 sales mark in Germany alone; That’s enough for the award in the highest category, Multi-Platinum.
Platinum awards were awarded to two games; These are available for reaching 200,000 sales in Germany. The racing game EA Sports F1 23, the official game for the 2023 Formula 1 World Championship, and the action-adventure Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 have achieved this – the latter, although it is only available exclusively for PlayStation 5.
Last but not least, two other titles were able to crack the gold award for 100,000 sales – and in this case, Ubisoft is particularly pleased. Both the action-adventure Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and the open-world racing game The Crew: Motorfest come from the developer and publisher and reached this mark in December.
