The Coronavirus is the most noise-making threat in the world today. Its uncontrolled expansion has the health system in check, so despite not being considered a disease with a high mortality rate, it is intended to mitigate its expansion in any way. It is for this reason that all kinds of concentrations where large crowds are involved have been canceled. Among the victims is E3, a fair that was already being questioned in recent years. Next on the list is Gamescom.
The European fair par excellence, held in Cologne during the month of August, is already selling its tickets. Obviously, the forecast for August is that the situation with the Coronavirus has improved worldwide, but at this point there is nothing to take for granted. The organization, however already made available to the public tickets to attend Gamescom 2020.

We still do not know what the final scope of the Coronavirus will be, but the containment measures that are currently being taken seek to stop cases from occurring and that the virus ends up being controlled. If during the next weeks the situation does not improve, new event cancellations would not be ruled out, among which would be Gamescom.
The Gamescom organizing team published a statement on the website recognizing that they take into account the current situation of the coronavirus. "For each individual event, we will evaluate the recommendations of the responsible authorities in relation to major events and, as before, we will make our decisions after careful consideration". The statement specifically addresses the coronavirus, saying that the health of the attendees is paramount. So there is no universal certainty as to whether or not it will be held.
