Game news gamescom 2022: Play truth or dare with Pinocchio in a Bloodborne-inspired universe with Lies of P
After a first released trailer in , Lies of P gets a head start. Inspired by Carlo Collodi’s story of Pinocchio, the title was presented live on the opening night of gamescom, where new gameplay footage was broadcast.

Ever since its announcement in November 2021, Lies of P had caught the attention of players. In question, its gameplay and universe are reminiscent of the most famous works of From Software: the Souls, with Dark Souls and Demon Soul in mind, but also Bloodborne. After a first trailer in 4K illustrating the gameplay of their next work, Round8 Studio & Neowiz were silent. Probably enough to refine their title ahead of its presentation last night during Gamescom’s Opening Night Live.
In fact, Lies of P popped up during the evening hosted by Geoff Keighley. Through a trailer (seen above), Round8 Studio and Neowiz recall the setting of this title: it is during the historical period of the Belle Epoque (1871 – 1914), as the title plays, in the fictional town of Krat. The latter, once the City of Light, has been transformed into a melting pot of chaos and madness: a transformation brought about by the madness of its inhabitants.
Lies of P: Meet the souls
The player impersonating Pinocchio is responsible for healing the city. To do this, he has to make important decisions on his journey: finding Gepetto, his father and an excellent craftsman. It is the lies he will (or will not) explain that will affect the scenario. On this topic, the developers had already promised different conclusions depending on our choices.
In any case, Lies of P will not only be a question and answer game. As this new trailer proves, action will be an important aspect of the title, which promises gameplay à la Dark Souls: very (too?) imposing enemies to defeat the hard way. Fortunately, our world of Pinocchio can count on a diverse arsenal of weapons: swords, big clubs, the parade or even magic should be on the agenda in this closely guarded title.
