Good news for all of you who want to visit this year’s gamescom in August: After years of abstinence, Nintendo is returning to Cologne this year and will be there as an exhibitor!
Welcome back Nintendo! The Japanese are returning to gamescom in Cologne this year after having stayed away from the German trade fair for years. The big comeback has now been communicated via the official gamescom Twitter account.
Nintendo was last on site in Cologne in 2019 – and thus before the corona pandemic. Numerous new games were presented during the show, including Pokémon Sword / Shield, Dragon Quest 11 and The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening. Gameplay from Luigi’s Mansion 3 was also presented at the fair, as was a DLC for Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020.
So now the big comeback follows in Cologne, although it is currently still unclear what Nintendo will show in August. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will have been released by this point and it will certainly be exciting to see what the Japanese have planned for the fall on the Switch – because the fall line-up and games planned for 2024 are planned should play an important role in the gamescom appearance.
gamescom 2023 will take place from August 23 to 27, 2023. The gamescom Opening Night Live with Geoff Keighley also returns the day before on August 22 and should score with the most important new announcements. Also from Nintendo?
