Adidas GMR consists of an insole and a jacquard tag. Those who combine both with their own sports shoes and wear them playing soccer in the real world will unlock a special event in FIFA Mobile including rewards and leaderboards.

Those who take part in the weekly GMR challenges in FIFA Mobile receive certain bonuses. The challenges include tasks such as:
- collect a certain amount of ball touches
- cover a certain distance
- kick a ball with particularly high intensity
The app includes matching leaderboards that allow players to compare their performance with each other. Users can unlock special content and improve their own Ultimate Team or Team GES when they complete the challenges.
How does Adidas GMR work?
The insole with the jacquard tag tracks the football performance and movements of the user on the football field and transfers them to the FIFA Mobile App. For this purpose, the tag has a gyro sensor, an acceleration sensor and a processor chip that uses a machine learning algorithm to recognize the user's movements such as touching the ball, shot intensity, as well as running distance and pace.
In order to use Adidas GMR, you need the insole including jacquard tag:
- a smartphone with iOS 12.1 (or higher) or Android 6.0 (or higher)
- the Adidas GMR App (available for free in the App / Play Store)
- the FIFA Mobile App (available free of charge in the App / Play Store)
To be able to play football properly with the chip in your shoe and measure yourself against friends and the FIFA Mobile Community, you need to connect the Jacquard Tag with the Adidas GMR app. Then you open the FIFA Mobile App to to transfer your data into the game. Adidas GMR: battery life and price
The splash-proof jacquard tag has one built-in battery with a duration of two to three soccer games, how TheVerge reported. With moderate use, it lasts a good week before you have to remove it from the sole and recharge it.
Adidas GMR is now in the official Adidas online store and individual Adidas stores in shoe sizes 36 to 48 2/3 are available for purchase. German customers pay 34.95 euros (plus 4.99 euros shipping costs for online orders).
