The next major award ceremony is imminent: the Game Developers Choice Awards 2021. The nominees have now been announced on the official website.
The Last of Us: Part II is considered the most successful title of all time in terms of prizes. This position was previously held by The Witcher 3, before the Naughty Dog title replaced CD Projekt RED’s game in the Game of the Year Awards in January of this year. Now The Last of Us: Part II can further expand its lead, because the action sequel tops the list of nominees for the GDC Awards 2021.
The Last of Us: Part II is nominated in a total of six categories, including, of course, again in the most important category: the Game of the Year. The samurai epic Ghost of Tsushima and the indie darling Hades also received six nominations.
The actual award ceremony is still a bit long in coming and should be streamed on July 21, 2021. Titles published in 2020 could be nominated in the various categories.
