At Gearbox there is apparently a lot going on behind closed doors at the moment, because the developer and publisher has numerous high-quality titles in the works.
Gearbox also submitted an annual report for the fourth quarter of the past fiscal year and for the full fiscal year. You don’t just take a look back at the figures achieved, but also address current projects and future plans – and that’s quite interesting.
Reason: Gearbox seems to have a whole range of high-quality titles in the pipeline, as the Embracer Group, to which gearbox belongs, has now confirmed. A whopping nine games of the highest AAA quality class are currently being created under the Gearbox flag. However, since the company acts both as a developer and publisher, it is unclear whether Gearbox Software is responsible for the development in all cases or to what extent other studios are also involved.
The Embracer Group acquired Gearbox in February 2021 for a mere $1.3 billion and emphasized at the time that this would also enable the studio to grow, which could result in even more game developments. One of the nine projects that has now been confirmed is the recently announced Tales from the Borderlands 2, in the other cases (hopefully soon) new announcements will certainly be interesting.
As a publisher, Gearbox will also publish Eyes in the Dark: The Curious Case of One Victoria Bloom, Have a Nice Death, Homeworld 3, Hyper Light Breaker and Relic Hunters Legends; not all of them meet the AAA seal of approval.
