Gears 5 has a great sport and I'm happy to join. But when it comes to competitive multiplayer games, this is a mixed race. Gears 5 champions Horde and Versus, like the loot COG, returned from another battle against the relentless threat of locusts, but the annoyance confused the party. Exit mode offers some new features, but it becomes flat. And running a progressive system through it, it feels terrible in free games (not to mention full price games).

Let's start with the campaign, this is a 12-hour fun tour of Sera's unseen landscape. Originally serving as the common soldier son JD of Marcus Fenix, and most of the time as the impressive Kait (its obvious legacy of locusts made her the mother of all migraines), we are considered a budgeted fighting machine that has previously been in Gears never appeared in the game, such as the open world, the ultimate abilities of an action role-playing game style, and the opportunity to fight in several different ways.
I've explored back and forth whether these new open worlds (frozen wasteland, and then the red desert) are good for Gears 5 sports, or just fill the game with the traditional fast-paced, linear action of previous games and cover the shooter series. Of course, you can explore these parts of the open world with a rowboat to break the rhythm, provide a platform for squad jokes, and sometimes look beautiful-but you are only going to the target from a place on the map, which is clearly marked. There is no reason to explore. I happened to find something interesting in the desert only once. For the rest of the time, I knew where I was going and there was almost no reason to deviate from the path of least resistance.
However, this Gears campaign is related to this. There are some heuristics (underground rockets are really awesome); cover-based combat is as sophisticated as ever, and sometimes it's the right color (I know, right?) Kait is a great character, good for Gears of War, and the developer The Coalition has always been smart enough to make her a star of the show. Ever since Marcus and Dom made headlines, her journey has been as eye-catching as gear. Gears 5 cleverly handles the themes of sadness and parenting, and has completely won over major decisions imposed on players at the end of the campaign. I was surprised to find myself taking care of Kate. She is a good egg.
However, even more disappointing is Escape. In this reverse tribal mode, I saw three COG players, each character is a different character of Z-list Gears, with unique abilities, loads and limits, trying to escape from the Swarm hive. The trick is to manage resources-ammunition, ultimate weapons and weapons-while avoiding being swamped by Swarm. Reach the pickup point, close the door and go out.
Unfortunately, this is a bit boring. I'm a Gears fan, but I can't play games like a Mac, and we know from his red hair that he's Scottish, or an exciting position to run among enemies I've seen from elsewhere in the game. This is annoying when one of your partners is running forward, they break the team and make the team weaker (there is a strong "Destiny" strike atmosphere). This is annoying when a player consumes all the ammunition. It's also annoying when a player prevents you from eventually closing the door. Fortunately, the escape game does not last long.
Perhaps video game run-in fans are willing to fight soldiers through Versus, Horde, and Escape, if they have something to run in … But Gears 5's efforts are frustrating and encouraging. The main issue here is the battle pass, the main process called "Call of Duty-Gears 5" that can unlock cosmetics. To rank and unlock new cosmetics, you must earn a certain number of stars by completing goals such as completing five escape games or killing six with a submachine gun. Three targets are available at any time, and they refresh every 24 hours. As the level rises, the number of stars required to unlock the next level also increases.
I think that the battle pass is a good thing. Most people think that Fortnite's Battle Pass is fun and better than the scariest monetized alternative, the loot box. But I need to point out that the problem with the Gears 5 Battle Pass is free, and that is that it forces you to wait 24 hours before offering a new set of three goals. You can get a reset of one of the challenges for free, if you do n’t like a given challenge or have completed a challenge, you can burn it, or you can pay the actual cost (10 iron) to make a new target available without waiting. This is the improvement you would expect from a free game, not a full price game purchased by Microsoft. Regardless of the developer's intentions (I suspect this is encouraging people to log in and play a little each day), this feeling is nothing more than preventing Gears' most loyal players from conducting a three-month tour in weeks instead of months Inside. Recharging money in the real world faster, it feels bad.
What you are trying to unlock is also incomprehensible. There is nothing worth writing in Gears 5's first battle pass. The character's skin is lifted from the battle (for example, deserting Kait with a windshield). No one notices your banner. In the fierce battle, no one had time to stop and stare at the blood spurts, some of them were really bizarre (Rogue Sea Pirate Ship, anyone?). Hardly anyone was emotional. None of the death sentences floated my boat. The final battle pass reward is a flashy Nasser skin.
I must point out that Gears 5 hollowed out the controversial Gears of War 4 loot box, which is a good thing. In their place, you can get supplies by playing battles, hordes, or escapes, and you get random custom items from supply raids when you fill the supply scale. It's also worth pointing out that all of these advances only unlock customizations. There are no weapons to buy, so there is no "winning money" element. You cannot use real-world money to purchase skill cards that improve the abilities of characters in Tribe and Escape. Instead, make money by upgrading a single character, and you can make money by earning more of the same card, or use scrap (Gears 5's virtual currency Scrap 5) to earn money, which are obtained when the duplicates are broken down .
However, the frustrating battle pass progress system and the apparent lack of cool custom items that can't be unlocked at launch can offset any goodwill created by the loot box. Let's take a look at the store and then, no doubt we will see cool new threads for sale here. what. The skin is expensive. Gosh, Fortnite.
So, come to a conclusion that encapsulating the entire Gears 5 package is a tricky issue because it's a hybrid bag. Admittedly, this is a drum bag, but a mixed bag. The election was really great. Maybe I think it's better than great. All new things about it-things of the open world, power of Jack, light RPG elements, sidewalk missions-all of these things were made better by other games a few years ago. But other games are not Gears of War, it has good third-person shooting capabilities, interesting things actually happen, and the story doesn't do its best to win awards. But although Versus, Horde, and even Escape ended up pretty good, they were overwhelmed by the party poser's progressive system. The hope is that the league will adjust the way that combat passes work, because for now, Gears 5's efforts are frustrating.
Will Gears 5 reignite the glory days of Gears of War on Xbox 360? I doubt it. However, even though the league took some wrong steps, the league eventually left its own personality in the series. The Gears 5 campaign reminds me of my love for the great Gears of War campaign. I didn't work too hard. Gears didn't work too hard. We clenched our hands in common knowledge and stayed safe, it will be a difficult journey.
