Notice: Spoilers for chapter 269 of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga
After finishing an almost endless battle, calm has come to Jujutsu Kaisen. Gege Akutami has decided to give both fans and characters a break with a chapter of the manga that explores the consequences of the confrontation and a reflection between the most powerful sorcerers in Japan.
Chapter 269 begins with good news: Yuta Okkotsu is alive and has returned thanks to Rika. On the other hand, Megumi Fushiguro, who had been missing for some time in his original form, apologizes to his companions for the troubles caused while tribe controlled his body. However, his companions assure him that he is not guilty of what happened.
Kusakabe, for his part, points to Satoru Gojo as the main person responsible for what happened. According to him, the tragedy would have been avoided if Gojo had killed Itadori. Yuji at the beginning of the series. From here, the sorcerers begin to analyze their mistakes in combat and how these affected the course of the battle. They reflect that, although a greater degree of precision in their actions could have shortened the conflict, at the end of the day they are human and, therefore, prone to making mistakes.
Additionally, it is revealed that Kusakabe has become the new leader of his clan following the execution of the previous leader, Mei Mei. He is now in charge of teaching at the schools of sorcery and has begun to use a new technique based on the manipulation of shadows. This technique allows him to absorb the vital energy of his disciples, which considerably lengthens their life.
Although this chapter does not end on a cliffhanger, it does hint at a potential source of conflict in the future: after the fall of the clan Zenina war could erupt between the Gojo and Kamo clans to dominate the world of sorcery. Could Gege Akutami explore this plot in a future spin-off? Only time will tell.
