The German fiber optics offers high-speed Internet via the modern fiber optic network. But what does the internet provider do differently than the others? We’ll tell you.
Fast internet is one of the basic needs of many people these days – however, it is still far too rarely satisfied. The sluggish fiber optic expansion is often identified as the culprit. But it can also be due to old copper pipes in the house. If you want to enjoy the Internet of tomorrow in your home today, you should take a closer look at the Internet provider DeutscheOSS.
Who is the German fiber optics actually?
The German glass fiber (DG) is a company based in the tranquil town of Borken, North Rhine-Westphalia. The DG operates primarily in rural regions and suburbs and is striving for a nationwide expansion of the fiber optic network. This should also enable users outside of metropolitan regions to be supplied with high-speed Internet.
The DG is currently active in more than 1.2 million connected households in 13 federal states and also brings high-speed Internet to rural corners, which are often only considered late by communication giants. With an investment of over 5.75 billion dollars in the expansion of the fiber optic network, another 4 million households are to be connected to the internet of the future by the end of 2025.
High speed internet no matter how many neighbors you have
As the name suggests, the German fiber optic company is fully committed to the supply of high-speed Internet via fiber optic cable. The FTTH design ensures that every household receives the optimal line. FTTH stands for Fiber to the Home and means that the fiber optic cable not only leads to your next distribution box, but directly to your apartment.
This has the advantage that you can enjoy the full data volume of your line. Where many other providers, who still rely on copper cable connections and so-called vectoring, offer a maximum download speed of 300 Mbit per second, it is only just getting started with German fiber optics. And the DG is also excellent when it comes to uploading.
With other large providers, you even have a maximum of only 50 – 200 MBit upload speed in the fiber optic network. The German fiber optics, on the other hand, offers 150 – 500 MBit depending on the tariff. A significant advantage for users of cloud services, streaming game content via Google Stadia and for all content creators.
You have the choice between four tariffs, which are broken down according to the maximum download speed. Depending on the package, you can use the fiber optic network from 300 Mbit/s to 1000 Mbit/s. The big difference compared to cable: Thanks to the direct connection to the fiber optic network, you always enjoy full speed.
For comparison: You often have to “share” the maximum volume of Internet connections from the junction box. Old copper cables mean that other parties in the same apartment building or on your street have limited bandwidth. Even if the fiber optic extension extends to the said box.
Bottlenecks can occur at peak times. For example, when many football fans want to stream a World Cup match in high quality at the same time. Or when several neighbors are in the home office at the same time and need to access work data via the Internet and VPN.
Free expansion at your home
This no longer happens with a high-performance fiber optic line via FTTH. Because there is no copper cable between your apartment and the distribution box. However, the appropriate access must first be provided and this can make construction work necessary. With some providers, the tenant can cost several hundred dollars in the worst case.
However, if you sign a contract with DeutscheOSS, the provider will not only take care of the installation and construction work. They don’t cost you anything either. In addition, the provider also takes care of all the relocation steps from your old supplier to the German fiber optics. This also includes old landline telephony contracts and number portability.
Internet and telephone via branded router
Because you can also make phone calls via German fiber optics. You also benefit from the fiber optic network, because telephone calls are often transmitted digitally today. All you then need is the right router, to which you have to connect your home internet and telephone.
There is no compulsion with the provider. You can use a commercially available router that supports fiber optic Internet, such as the FRITZ!Box 7590. If you don’t already have a router, you can also rent one directly from DeutscheOSS for 5 dollars a month. With a current street price of around 219 dollars, borrowing is even cheaper than buying in the first 43 months.
