After the Helldivers is before the Ghost of Tsushima controversy: The PC version of the samurai hit requires a PSN connection – and that’s why sales are suspended in several countries.
There was a huge outcry when the Steam version of Helldivers 2 was updated to require it to be linked to a PSN account. A shitstorm and some review bombing later, Sony and Arrowhead Game Studios backtracked and walked away from it.
Back then, too, Helldivers 2 was temporarily removed from sale on Steam in many countries – and that’s simply because the PlayStation Network doesn’t even exist there. This is much less widespread than Steam from Valve – and the approaching Ghost of Tsushima is now feeling the effects of this.
On the occasion of the Helldivers controversy, the makers confirmed that the single-player part of Ghost of Tsushima can be played entirely offline on the PC – and that is absolutely the focus of the game – but the Legends mode, which is also included, requires due to the Using the PlayStation overlay is a PSN link.
This circumstance may have led to the PC version of Ghost of Tsushima being removed from sale on Steam in numerous countries – although account linking is somewhat optional, as you only need it if you use it online mode. Since full gaming enjoyment is not available in countries where PSN is not available, Ghost of Tsushima is not available for the PC at all.
The steps taken have already become clear via SteamDB, as countless countries around the world are now listed in which Ghost of Tsushima can no longer be purchased via Steam. Anyone who pre-ordered there before the sales ban should automatically receive refunds in the affected countries.
