With Legends, the epic Ghost of Tsushima also has a multiplayer part to offer – and this will also stand on its own two feet in the future. Accordingly, an independent game version has now been announced, which even brings a new game mode with it.
Somewhat surprisingly, a completely separate version of the Ghost of Tsushima: Legends multiplayer mode was announced today. On the occasion of the upcoming release of the Director’s Cut for PS4 and PS5 on August 20th, Legends will also be available for purchase in the PlayStation Store. If you are only interested in multiplayer, you can secure it on both platforms for 19.99 dollars.
With the exception of some cosmetic items, which can only be unlocked through the single player campaign, this is the same Legends content that is available to owners of the full version of Ghost of Tsushima. This gives you access to both the content released in 2020 and any new content. Players who first bought the standalone Legends release and then would like to play the rest of Ghost of Tsushima can upgrade to the Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut for $ 50 (PS4) or $ 60 (PS5) at any time.
Keyword new content: First of all, there is the brand new rival mode, which will follow from September 3rd and also includes new trophies and cosmetic items. In rival mode, two teams of two compete to defeat waves of opponents. For each defeated opponent you get Magatama, with which you can damage the other team. You can spend the Magatama on shadows, for example, to fend off your opponents’ purchases, curses (health deprivation, exploding bodies and more), Hwacha fires and much more. When you have spent enough magatama, you will unlock waves of ultimate resistance. You have to defeat them in front of the opposing team in order to win.
At the same time, the new equipment master system was introduced. This is a new addition to the Legends progression systems and rewards. Players with equipment at level 110 can now bind them to a class and activate mastery challenges. This allows the AI level of an item of equipment to be upgraded to 120 and a second advantage slot is unlocked. When you activate Mastery Challenges, you can also unlock a new skill and new technique for each class.
As early as August 20, there will be an update with new Legends features to match the release of the Director’s Cut. This includes changes based on community feedback. Survival mode has been rebalanced to reduce the length of a session. There are also new weekly nightmare survival challenge variants, additional cosmetic items, and more.
From September 10th to October 1st there will be new content every week – including an additional rival card, new survival cards inspired by the island of Iki and Iyo’s realm, and Iyo’s trials. This is a new version of last year’s raid with a higher level of difficulty, compact challenges and a number of new online leaderboards.
