Remastered versions of classic Nintendo DS games Ghost tricks: Phantom detectives It will be officially released in June this year.
Nintendo gave us a Direct last month that included some surprises that catered perfectly to fans of the original Nintendo DS, like Level-5 finally bringing back the Professor Layton series. Arguably the bigger surprise, though, was Capcom’s announcement that Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective would be coming to Switch in HD. During Capcom’s recent presentation, the developer confirmed that the game will launch on June 30 on Switch, as well as PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Steam.
In Ghost Trick, you play as Sissel, a spirit who can’t remember who he was or why he was killed, and embarks on a journey to find the mystery behind his departed state. Using ghostly powers from the spirit world, he can mess with real-world objects in order to protect redhead Lynn from being taken by the killer.
The remaster also features updated high-resolution graphics, higher frame rates, and an optimized user interface. There’s also a new challenge feature, which allows you to unlock art and music from within the game, the music now has a new updated version, but you can still listen to the original if you prefer.
Ghost Trick may be a game that a lot of people haven’t heard of, but that’s not because it’s not a good game. It was originally released on the first DS system in January 2011, a month before the 3DS release. On top of that, it didn’t release worldwide until a full year later, which meant that many players would be looking for a 3DS-only game, as was the fate of many titles released on hardware at the end of their lifespan. If you did miss that title back then, if you’re an Ace Attorney fan, defin itely give it a shot, because the creator of the best legal game ever built around Shu Takumi also made Ghost Trick.
Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective is now available for pre-order ahead of its June 30th release.
